The Rhythmic Pentatonic Scales has so far concentrated exclusively on syncopating the right hand  (playing the right hand notes "off the beat").

Playing the left hand off the beat is considerably more of a challenge - but as a Musicarta frequenter, you won't be expecting the easy way out!

Watch the module performance at least once before going on.

It's a variation on Pattern Four in 6-8/D minor, with the syncopation swapping into the left hand every other whole up-and-down pattern.

Revise the original

Revise the original tapping pattern and performance (swing quavers).

Inverting the pattern

Now repeat the original TLR tapping study "inverted" - with the right hand playing the straight quavers and the left hand the syncopated, off-the-beat version.

Here is a practice-speed version of the whole exercise inverted - right hand straight quavers throughout. (This is actually easier than swapping the syncopation between hands all the time!)

When you're a little more proficient, you can play this exercise without the repeats. The focus will be more on being ready to jump to the new scale.

Now practice swapping repeatedly between straight left (original) and straight right quavers in just the D minor position.
