The next version in the build-up adds a bit of harmonic variety by introducing a G minor sound in Line 3. Only the left hand does anything different.

We simplify things by going back to block fifths (both notes playing together). Watch and listen carefully for the new material.

Revert to LH 'block fifths'

The new material comes in Line Three only. Here it is with the new left hand material.

Let your LH move

The left hand thumb moves up from the A to the B flat then back.

Learners often try to avoid putting their hands up between the black keys, but it’s not ‘wrong’ to do so. In fact, quite the opposite.

Let your hand move up towards the back of the keys so your thumb can slip easily onto the B flat.

Locate the new material

Be sure you know where (and only where!) you play the new note.

The thumb goes to the higher note for the middle half of Line 3 only. It’s “Down, up, up, down”.

Line Three with LH broken fifths

Then break the left hand fifths up and practice the line continuously. You see how you have to be ready to push your left hand up towards the back of the keys.

Play the whole version through

Fit the new Line 3 into the previous continuous left hand version for the final module performance.
