    Honourable mentions

Sometimes as a webmaster you come across somebody who's just so plain helpful and pleasant to deal with, that you just have to return the favour.

Such a one is Kirill Shmelev of NCH Software

I'd been battling for weeks to take a decent screen-capture movie of MidiPiano playing the free Musicarta MIDI files, chiefly to demonstrate MidiPiano's effectiveness as a learning tool, but I was getting only horrible jerky results from all the 'free trial' software I could download.

More to the point, appeals to the software writers for help either met a blank wall or reams of still-more-confusing technical jargon.

Kirill was the only person who answered in plain English and then went to the trouble of testing the two applications and politely suggesting my creaky seven-year-old computer might be at the heart of the problem.

NCH Software make a host of audio-visual applications, and one of them might well make your life easier or more productive. I can certainly vouch for the quality of their support. Please click through and have a look, and, thanks, Kirill!

    Mature visitors

Musicarta welcomes mature visitors! We hope you're enjoying your musical skills with the help of Musicarta's free online piano lessons!

If you're a senior citizen (or getting that way!), you should check out South Africa's 'Senior Service' website. It's primarily about retirement places, but there's lots of other interesting and useful stuff too. They're incredibly helpful - and they've had the good sense to post an article I wrote about piano lessons for adult re-starters - how great is that! Click through and have a look - it's free... !
