The Pentatonic Hanon
01-12-20 lesson series drills the major pentatonic
scales in triplets with repeated notes, which is a great way to practice the
keyboard dexterity required for improvising.
This is the third page of the three PentHan 01-12-20 play-by-ear exercises. To get the most out of the series, start from Page One.
Play-by-ear Page 3: Mixed Pairs

Going on from here
If you have worked through the PentHan 01-12-20 series methodically, you will probably have realised by now how useful this way of looking at the pentatonic melodic line is.
But "The proof of the pudding is in the eating"! You will want to ensure that you bring this expertise into your playing and improvising, disguising its 'exercise' origins as best you can with variations - in patterns, rhythm, articulation and so on.
As exercises, you can continue to use PentHan 01-12-20 as a model for your own further combined dexterity-cum-creativity warm-ups.
