It is possible to count and play many of the highly syncopated six-eight patterns, especially on Series One Page Four, as four-four tuplets - that is, with four main beats in the bar, each divided into three, making a total of twelve mini-beats to the bar.
We count our bar of twelve beats: "One-and-a two-and-a three-and-a four-and-a...". (The patterns could equally well be written in twelve-eight, and counted just the same.)
